Fr. Juan Ramón de Andrés LC
Father Juan Ramón de Andrés, L.C., who has been stationed in Caracas for nine years, gave a conference at the headquarters of the Altius Foundation in Madrid to explain the work carried out by the Mano Amiga schools in Venezuela. In concept, the Mano Amiga Mariches and Mano Amiga La Montaña schools.
The Apostolate of the Sacred Heart in Spain donates the Mano Amiga la Montaña school supplies in Caracas.
Father Juan Ramón, beyond the political situation, explained to the attendees specific cases of people with names and surnames and a day-to-day full of difficulties in accessing the most basic things. In this sense, Mano Amiga schools carry out work that goes beyond education.
Mano Amiga schools are Regnum Christi Schools that make up a network of Catholic educational centers spread across nine countries in Latin America, in some of the most needy areas. Currently, there are 35 schools, and their students, children, and young people receive the comprehensive training they require to develop humanly and intellectually from Primary to University.
However, as Father Juan Ramón pointed out in his presentation, there is much more. The community seeks the well-being of its thousands of students and their families by guaranteeing food, hygiene, clothing, and even medicine. In Venezuela, specifically, help is being requested to obtain a water pump to supply one of the schools and all the people living around it.
The economic contribution is the most direct and secure and favors the growth of the local economy. Another of the proposals presented by Father Juan Ramón was to sponsor one or more students for a course or a few months.
